
How are monies collected in Lauren’s memory used? From July, 2005 to July, 2011 Lauren's Foundation has raised over $80,000. Below is an accounting of how those funds have been utilized.
$25,000: Used to establish a permanent scholarship fund at the Berks County Community Foundation (BCCF) benefiting Berks County high school seniors.
$24,000: Twenty one (21) scholarships have been awarded to Berks County high school seniors since 2006, that have risen above adverse circumstances and challenges and will continue their education at an accredited college or university.
$17,500: Used to establish a permanent charitable fund at the Berks County Community Foundation that makes annual donations to the American Brain Tumor Association (ABTA).
$6,000: Direct contributions to the American Brain Tumor Association in Lauren's memory, for continued research.
$6,550: Donations/financial assistance to local families that have lost children to cancer and other brain tumor/cancer-related causes.
$2,000: Scholarships to Drexel University (Lauren's alma mater) students for $1,000, awarded to students that persevered through adverse circumstances and challenges to excel academically.
Lauren's Brain Tumor Research and Scholarship Funds are managed by the Berks County Community Foundation, (BCCF) a fully-accredited, non-profit, IRS 501(c)(3) approved charitable organization. Contributions made to these funds through BCCF are fully tax deductible.
